Of People And Friendships

People...

Those whom we call true friends

Are never ever ever on the fence 

When we need them to our defence 


They are there with us all through 

Because they are actually really true 

And too good sometimes to be true 


But truth is, there are friends 

And there are friends!


People...

Those who call themselves friends 

But are never at our defence 

Always staying on the fence 


They draw close when all is sweet

And take a step back at the heat

Distancing themselves at a beat 


They unplug their friendship in our worst 

And show up when  we are at our best 


They come over to claim ownership 

When they didn't stay in our hardship 


At our worst, they lost faith in us 

And didn't believe the fate in us 


They couldn't bear nor tolerate us 

But have come to celebrate us


They didn't partake in the process 

Yet wants to be a part of the success 


They are not true friends 

Can't you see the difference


They want what's in the ship 

Not you nor your friendship
