DO YOU FIND IT DIFFICULT TO ACCEPT COMPLIMENTS?

Are you the type of person who would typically respond to compliments in the following ways;  Me: You are gorgeous and that dress looks good on you.  Aretha: Oh really? It's just an ordinary dress.  Me: Congratulations. Your credentials, experience and selling performance got you the job.  Bertha: Thanks. But I think, I was just lucky.  Me: Callista, that's amazing. You are such a talented lady.  Callista: It's nothing much. Anyone could have done that.  Me: I have followed your works for a while and I am confident you will make a good speaker on the subject of Women's Empowerment. I want you to speak at our next event. What do you think?  Davidetta: Me? I am not fit to speak at such a seminar. It is meant for women in the big leagues.  Me: You have so much knowledge and expertise in what you do. Kindly consider writing a book on it.  Esther: I'm not cut out for that. Writing is meant for the experts. I'm nothing close to that.  Could any of these characters be

EVER FELT YOU ARE FAKE?

 Have you ever felt inadequate, incompetent or insecure even though you have done well for yourself?  If you ever did then know that you are not alone. You are probably experiencing what Psychologists call IMPOSTER SYNDROME.  According to the International Journal of Behavioural Sicnece (2013), this condition affects 70% of adults at some point in time of their lives.  Imposter Syndrome, also known as IMPOSTERISM is a condition that causes people to attribute their achievements to chance instead of acknowledging that their accomplishments are a result of the application of their abilities and talents.  Clance and Imes (1978) defined Imposterism as the inability to internalize accomplishments and persistent fear of being exposed as a fraud.  Imposterism is often characterized by anxiety, depression, fear of failure, perfectionism, self-doubt and stress.  Do you often feel any of these? If yes, then you might be facing the emotional challenges that impostorism imposes on its sufferers.
