SPEAK AT THE PEAK!

YOU CAN SPEAK AT THE PEAK Yes, You! You Can. Let Me Show You.... How To Perfect Your Public Speaking Skills. Are you Scared of Speaking in Public? Well, you are not alone! Many people have been held back by the fear of public speaking. A research report has it that over 70% of people are afraid to speak in public. I am Gamel Sankarl and I have had my fair share of this fear. I have had to feign sickness to prevent myself from giving presentations in the past. Some professionals and executives dread the idea of speaking in public. But truth is, to progress in any professional pursuit, you need to master the skills of public speaking and presentation. This book shows you how! Grab it here: https://selar.co/5n6c When I came to this realization, I made a conscious decision to practice and perfect the art of presenting my ideas. I committed myself to become a commanding communicator who can succinctly convey his ideas with confidence and competence. And yes, making that decis

DO YOU FIND IT DIFFICULT TO ACCEPT COMPLIMENTS?

Image
Are you the type of person who would typically respond to compliments in the following ways;  Me: You are gorgeous and that dress looks good on you.  Aretha: Oh really? It's just an ordinary dress.  Me: Congratulations. Your credentials, experience and selling performance got you the job.  Bertha: Thanks. But I think, I was just lucky.  Me: Callista, that's amazing. You are such a talented lady.  Callista: It's nothing much. Anyone could have done that.  Me: I have followed your works for a while and I am confident you will make a good speaker on the subject of Women's Empowerment. I want you to speak at our next event. What do you think?  Davidetta: Me? I am not fit to speak at such a seminar. It is meant for women in the big leagues.  Me: You have so much knowledge and expertise in what you do. Kindly consider writing a book on it.  Esther: I'm not cut out for that. Writing is meant for the experts. I'm nothing close to that.  Could any of these characters be

EVER FELT YOU ARE FAKE?

Image
Have you ever felt inadequate, incompetent or insecure even though you have done well for yourself?  If you ever did then know that you are not alone. You are probably experiencing what Psychologists call IMPOSTER SYNDROME.  According to the International Journal of Behavioural Sicnece (2013), this condition affects 70% of adults at some point in time of their lives.  Imposter Syndrome, also known as IMPOSTERISM is a condition that causes people to attribute their achievements to chance instead of acknowledging that their accomplishments are a result of the application of their abilities and talents.  Clance and Imes (1978) defined Imposterism as the inability to internalize accomplishments and persistent fear of being exposed as a fraud.  Imposterism is often characterized by anxiety, depression, fear of failure, perfectionism, self-doubt and stress.  Do you often feel any of these? If yes, then you might be facing the emotional challenges that impostorism imposes on its sufferers.

Of Public Speaking

Once upon a time, I used to feign sickness whenever I had to speak in class. I recall one particular instance where I was called upon by one of my primary school teachers during an afternoon mental session to recite something. I think it was the arithmetical table.  This teacher had observed that over some period of time, I had always taken ill suddenly when we had to recite anything in class. And he wasn't going to let me off the hook this fateful day. Oh my, oh my! Apparently, I was confident in my knowledge of the time table figures until I was called. It is as if when you stood up, all your ideas and answers went down.   So here I was standing in front of the class. Long story short. I burst out in tears because I couldn't recall it. It was such a shame.  It broke my confidence to its lowest degree. But I gradually grew strong because some other teachers gave me the opportunity to speak in class and I got better with time.  At some point, I developed an affinity for words.

WALK THE TALK

WALK THE TALK! For many, there are a lot of things they would want to do with their lives. They want to do amazing things but all we have seen them do is talk about it. But truth is, you can only chalk success when you walk your talk. How do you do that? Alright, let me attempt to share some snippets with you on how to walk your talk. WILL: One of the best gifts God gifted mankind with is the gift of the will power. Your will power is a major determinant in the turn out of events in your life. How you use it determines what becomes of your life. You can't claim something you have in your heart or say with your mouth when you doubt it in your head. You have to condition both your conscious and subconscious brain to think in ways that will attract to you what you desire in life. With a strong will, you will attract what you wish to see in your life. Just be sure it is not for the wrong things. WORDS: The words you speak have a way of manifesting in your life. The bible says, ...&

WATCH WHAT YOU WRITE ONLINE

Today, I fondly remember and reflect on an encounter I had on Facebook that left me with awe a few years ago.  First, I got a friend request from a lady and I was hesitant to accept. But eventually did.  She read and forwarded my posts, especially my poems to her boss, The Father of Visual Poetry affectionately referred to as Doc. Penpen across the world.  The man then sent me a friend request himself. We started following each other. I was humbled by who he was when I began following.  Then he announced his coming to Africa (Ghana to be precise) for a Poetry and Awards event which had some poets from across the world in attendance as well.  Then upon his arrival in Ghana, he invited me over to his place of lodging for breakfast. We had hearty conversations on Ghana, our respective medical professions (because he trained as a doctor) and eventually zoomed in on literary arts, poetry and publishing, our common loves.  Then, he asked that I went with him to a state minister's office

I SURRENDER MY TROPHIES

'I Surrender My Trophies Before............... The One Who Has Won All The Victories'. Since I started Writing, Speaking and Teaching some years ago, I have had the privilege of winning national and international awards and received nominations and recognitions from prestigious organizations. I have been quoted, featured, acknowledged in books, interviewed on the media, hosted on college campuses and in churches, had one of my books used as a course material for University students, had mentions online and offline and spoken on platforms I never imagined possible. And all of these came as humbling and honouring experiences for me.  With hindsight, I have realised it has not been because I am perfect at what I do but because God has been abundantly graceful towards me.  Dear God, the boy you have given some small exposure is here to publicly say, Thank You!  Today, Gamel is Simply Grateful To You, God. Counting My Blessings and Giving God Glory.

SHIFT AND HAVE A LIFT.

SHIFT AND HAVE A LIFT. Everyone is meant for a life higher than what they presently live. I am of the view that, there is always room for improvement and for one to occupy that room, they must know what is resourceful and take such along. They must also know what is needful in that regard and do exactly that.  To experience any form of advancement in life, you must be ready to take chances. You must take a stance to improve on yourself on a daily basis and stay committed to your decision come what may. This might require of you to cut off somethings and some people from your life. It might also require of you to cultivate some attitudes and call in some people.  Let's share some few thoughts on that.  If your quest is to make a shift and experience a lift in life, you might want to do the following; Shift: Our mentality influences our reality. We live life inside out. Mostly, the reality we face precipitates from the mentality we have had over the years. And so you might want to m

Born a Teacher!

Born a Teacher... And I always find myself teaching.  Sometimes, I am a Speaker. Sometimes, I am a Preacher. Sometimes, I am a Biomedic. Sometimes, I am a Lecturer. Sometimes, I am a Writer. But at all times, I am a Teacher! I teach in each of these capacities that define my personal and professional being.  And in all of these, I always seek to ... Know The Way Go The Way and Show The Way. And so help me, God!  I am a Five Talent General.  Teaching is the core of my talents.   And Communication is its vehicle! #DifferentShadesOfTeacherSankarl

OPPOSITION REPOSITIONS YOU!

OPPOSITION REPOSITIONS YOU! There are oppositions all around us. We see it in almost every facet of our lives. I have experienced it firsthand in my personal and professional life and I bet you have too, on a few occasions. Such is life. Once in a while you will experience some sort of resistance when you make a stance in life. But are oppositions really there to impede progress? I doubt. I think oppositions are there to keep us on our toes, help us restrategize, reposition ourselves and do the needful so we can be resourceful and impactful. But honestly it depends on the kind of opposition one is faced with. Some oppositions come our way as a result of the choices we make and others due to no fault of ours. Some oppositions do come our way due to the sheer dislike of some people who for reasons best known to themselves don’t like us or what we do. But must you give up your position due to your opposition? No! Deal with it. Don’t focus on your opposition so long and lose your positio

RUMBLE IN A JUNGLE!

RUMBLE IN A JUNGLE! Life is a struggle, we all have to rumble We fight to survive as though we're in the jungle We learn along the way even though we fumble That leaves us no time to rant, rave nor mumble Oftentimes, life knocks us hard and we recoil and bumble Circumstances prick us so sharply as a bramble We become squeezed till we crumble But you need not to only grumble Understand that we are in a rumble And that does not warrant you time to jumble Don't just lazily walk through life in a shamble It's a rat race, run to win, don't just amble Nonetheless, direction is key, so never ramble The right direction gets you there amidst stumble With it you will be swift and smart  as you nimble Through your strategy and not a mere gamble Don't rebel when asked to do right else you will tumble And don't mistaken timidity for humility,it's good to be humble But dare to dig deeper if you want to get the best of marble Fight for your dreams because it's a rumbl

STRETCH!

STRETCH! Success is possible if you'd step up and stretch And until you do, you will remain in life's crèche Growth occurs when you decide to advance  Growth occurs when you dare to take chance Growth is possible only when you stretch  Until you stretch hard, you'll stay a wretch You are trapped when you focus on imitation  You can triumph by defying your limitation Maybe, you need mental cure not medication  Strive to grow mentally through meditation  Pur your heart and mind to work; stretch  Put your hand and muscles to work; stretch Your strength is unleashed when you stretch  Your skills are sharpened when you stretch.    Don't remain in the crèche of life; Stretch! Don't remain a wretch for life; Stretch!  #GamelianPoetivation# #GamelSankarl-ThePoetivator

DAILY DECISIONS DECIDE DESTINY.

DAILY DECISIONS DECIDE DESTINY. Our daily decisions decide our destinies. What we decide daily influences our daily routine and ultimately impacts on our lives. The decisions we make each passing second backed by our corresponding actions determine the outcomes we get at the end of each day. As you go through this day, remember to make the right decisions and work towards them. Let your expectations guide you as you make your choices at every point in time. And be sure to be focused enough on your goals. When you are not focused enough, you leave room for the decisions of others to dictate to you what you should pass your time with. Don't live your life on the whims and caprices of others. And don't live your life based on the theme, 'what will be, will be'. That can result in destiny abortion. Anytime you leave things on autopilot, you welcome anything as a result. Why get just anything for results when you can decide what should be your expected results? Destiny is n

ACTION ATTRACTION!

ACTION ATTRACTION! Granted, you now have a cool crafted course for personal and professional progress this year. But is that all there is to do? Certainly not. There is more for you to do to attract the successes you wish to chalk. And what would help you do that? The answer is ACTION! Until you act, you can't put your acts together and create the success arc for your life's story. No time to dull around, just ACT! To ACT in this sense means: 1. A=APPLY:  Apply yourself until you see what you have prophesied into your life through your resolutions come to pass. You need to push yourself extra hard until you see something happen for you. Apply yourself until you begin to attract to yourself all that you require for the attainment of your resolutions. Unless you go through the pain of doing something about your resolutions, you will get nothing close to a revolution. Apply yourself! 2. C=CHANGE: Change certain things in your life in order to change the course of your life. You w

Of People And Friendships

People... Those whom we call true friends Are never ever ever on the fence  When we need them to our defence  They are there with us all through  Because they are actually really true  And too good sometimes to be true  But truth is, there are friends  And there are friends! People... Those who call themselves friends  But are never at our defence  Always staying on the fence  They draw close when all is sweet And take a step back at the heat Distancing themselves at a beat  They unplug their friendship in our worst  And show up when  we are at our best  They come over to claim ownership  When they didn't stay in our hardship  At our worst, they lost faith in us  And didn't believe the fate in us  They couldn't bear nor tolerate us  But have come to celebrate us They didn't partake in the process  Yet wants to be a part of the success  They are not true friends  Can't you see the difference They want what's in the ship  Not you nor your friendship  Gamel Sankarl

IF IT IS TO BE, IT IS UP TO ME!

IF IT IS TO BE, IT IS UP TO ME! Yes, if it is ever going to happen as you expect, then it will take you to make it happen. Nothing will happen in your life until you rise up and make something happen.  Until you stand up and walk the talk you won't stand out. Until you ask yourself some questions and get answers your life won't amount to much. If you ask the right questions and get the right answers, chances are your life will be well off than never doing so.  Let's consider some of the questions necessary to ask: 1. Who am I? This is a question of personality. If you don't know who you are in God, it becomes easier for the devil to intimidate you and cajole you out of your birth right. Who you are matters if it will ever be well with you. Who you believe you are affects the way you behave and that defines who you truly are.  Work on your belief system and your behavior. What you believe, you brood upon and what you brood upon you behave and how you behave determines wh
